Appunti di fotografia storica a Livorno

Between spring and autumn of 1996, under the Region of Tuscany,  a 
project was conducted to identify  the  sources  and  photographic 
materials existing in public institutions in the city of Livorno. 
Carried out and curated by the Archivio Fotografico  Toscano,  the 
undertaking was part of a more vast program directed at  assessing 
the entire Tuscan photographic patrimony  and  at  constructing  a 
data bank of the historic photographs in Tuscany.  The  author  of 
this study, who participated in the project as organizer  for  the 
city  of  Livorno,  illustrates  the  results  obtained  and   the 
advantages offered for the reconstruction  at  a  local  level  of 
photographic history.
