Fernando Tempesti, Henri Cartier-Bresson

Henri  Cartier-Bresson, parlando di se stesso, si definisce
"un  tipo  nervoso al quale piace la pittura"  mentre,  per
quanto  riguarda  il suo rapporto con la  fotografia,  dice
"non  ci  capisco nulla". L'autore di questo breve profilo,
sulla  base  di queste testimonianze, discute intorno  alla
matrice  surrealista  delle fotografie  di  Cartier-Bresson
(maestri   Renč  Clair  e  Magritte)  e  sviluppa   alcune
riflessioni sul vecchio e mai chiuso problema del  rapporto
tra  fotografia  e  arti figurative, e della  storia  della
fotografia.


Henry  Cartier-Bresson  when  talking  of  himself  defines
himself  as a "nervous type who likes painting"  while,  as
far  as his relationship with photography is concerned,  he
says "I don't understand anything about it". The author  of
this  short  profile discusses the surrealist character  of
Cartier-Bresson's  phototgraphy (his  masters  being  Renč
Clair  and  Magritte)  and expands  on  a  few  reflections
concerning  the  old  and  never-settled  question  of  the
relationship  between photography and the figurative  arts,
and the history of photography.
