Nato a Caracas dove si è laureato in architettura, 
Mauricio Lupini si è poi trasferito a Milano dove oggi 
vive e svolge l'attività di fotografo realizzando immagini 
che si collocano lungo la linea di confine che divide 
realtà e finzione. Operando una sorta di ribaltamento 
rispetto ai canoni del movimento della land art in cui 
l'artista agisce sulla natura lasciando al fotografo il 
compito di documentare ciò che la natura necessariamente 
distruggerà in una fase successiva, Lupini interviene 
invece sugli oggetti conservati nei musei, sui reperti 
archeologici, sugli ambienti naturali ricostruiti per 
essere fatti oggetto di studio.


Mauricio Lupini was born in Caracas; after he earned his 
degree in architecture he moved to Milan where he currently 
lives and works. His photographs fit on to the thin line 
that separates reality from fantasy. By more or less 
overturning the canons of the land art movement in which 
the artist "acts" on nature leaving the photographer the 
task of documenting what nature must destroy in the next 
phase, Lupini focuses on objects in museums, archeological 
finds, and natural environments reconstructed in order to 
become objects of study.
