In questo articolo vengono presentate e commentate alcune 
fotografie scelte tra le circa cento che compongono la 
raccolta messa insieme dal senatore comunista napoletano 
Mario Palermo nel corso della sua attività tesa a 
documentare le atrocità dei nazisti. Le immagini 
riguardano principalmente il ghetto di Varsavia e il campo 
di sterminio di Auschwitz-Birkenau. Una parte di esse, 
scattate da operatori tedeschi e requisite dagli ufficiali 
sovietici durante l'avanzata verso Berlino, furono 
utilizzate come atti d'accusa al processo di Norimberga. 
Quelle presentate sono immagini terribili che documentano 
le umiliazioni cui venivano sottoposti gli internati, le 
condizioni di vita, le fucilazioni e tutte le altre 
atrocità che si verificavano all'interno dei lager.


This article presents and discusses some of the photographs 
chosen from the approximately one hundred pictures that 
comprise the collection created by the Neapolitan Communist 
Senator, Mario Palermo during his work dedicated to 
documenting nazi atrocities. The pictures were taken 
primarily in the Warsaw Ghetto and the Auschwitz-Birkenau 
extermination camp. Part of the photographs, taken by 
Germans and requisitioned by Soviet officers during the 
drive towards Berlin, were used as evidence for the 
prosecution during the Nuremberg trials. The pictures 
dramatically document the humiliations suffered by the 
prisoners, their living conditions, executions and all the 
other atrocities that were perpetrated in the camps.
